A Foxy Halloween
It’s that time of year again. The best time of year. The time of year when it’s not only socially acceptable for adults to play dress up, but it’s actually encouraged! You guessed it: Halloween. And what better way to show your Halloween spirit than by dressing as your ‘spirit’ animal! What’s my spirit animal, you ask? The Fox. Is it a cat? Is it a dog? We may never know, but we do know that it is indisputably the cutest and most clever creature on the planet. Fact. Another fact? My rad friend Claudia happens to share my affinity for the little guys (as is evident by her recent fox-tastic endeavors which you can and should read about on her blog thedarclaud.com).
Lured by the promise of tacos (chicken, of course), Claudia agreed to let me transform her into a fox this Halloween, turning her red-furred, bushy-tailed dreams into reality as ode to this mischievous marvel of a creature.
We were aiming for a high fashion fox of sorts. Something to put the predictable 'sexy pick-an-animal' costume to shame, but a step above what you might find on stage at your elementary school's adaptation of Red Riding Hood (wait, that's a wolf.. you get the point). I think we landed somewhere in the middle with a look that, in my humble opinion, could grace the cover of a Vogue Halloween Issue circa 1984 (maybe it's the shoulder pads... or the gloves). In any case, I think we nailed it. Presenting the Fantastic Mr(s) Fox:
Oh, and did I mention how much fun we had during the process? Just a couple of foxen (it's a word), doing foxy things, having foxy fun. The proof is in the pudding. Here's Claud, captured in a moment, having a totally genuine, not-at-all-fake laugh. Ah, the memories...
happy halloweening,
k.
